Kayaking in Deep Cove

On a beautiful weekday at the end of September a few of my classmates and I disappeared after class to Deep Cove- about a 15 minute drive away from school. Don't be fooled though- 15 minutes here can get you into a small-town, a beautiful mountainous view, and glimpses of seals basking in the sun!

Here is where we rented our kayaks from:

They people there were very friendly and helpful.

We went out paddling for about 3 hours and made pretty good distance and time considering our collective lack of paddling experience :).

One highlight was that we saw seals basking in the sun on some rocks on our way back!  What funny critters moving around on their bellies! We also saw some so not so cute critters- a naked retired couple swimming off their private dock- we felt as if we were intruding as we paddled by.

Bastian was my kayak partner for the afternoon!

Partners in crime :)

Samantha and her friend who was visiting from Ontario.
Overall, it was a great afternoon and a nice break from school work!
