Our First Bounty from Skeeter Farm
Do you recognize the beauty squashes in the picture below? You might, because nine months ago I posted about my first visit out to Skeeter Farm. We harvested these colourful beauties on one cool October morning/afternoon for Skeeter Farm's CSA customers.
If you missed my post about it, Chris and I decided that we wanted in on the action at Skeeter Farm and signed up to be a member of their CSA (Community Shared/Supported Agriculture) program (see my Skooting Around Skeeter Farm post for more information or just google CSA). Basically we bought a share of the produce at Skeeter Farm and with that comes the ups and downs of owning a weather/soil/season/critter dependent business. We are in it with our farmers all the way!
Today Chris and I picked up our first bounty from Skeeter Farm!
Here is a list of what we received this week:
For dinner we made kale chips, roasted potatoes, and some California corn on the cob! The food on our table from Skeeter Farm traveled about 80 km from door to door. That's pretty special. These goodies are the epitome of 'feel good food' and we can't wait to see what the rest of the season has in store.
Sending sunshine (what little we have had here) to wherever you are,
A.

Our delicious veggies from Skeeter Farm. Earlier tonight more Kale (yes it is capitalized, Kale deserves a capital K) and potatoes filled the table, but we got into those right away. YUM! |
