A very special Christmas
Christmas Day this year was very busy but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Chris and I each spent the morning with our own families and then met up to make the grand tour. We had a great day making our way around the city visiting our families! We arrived at our second-to-last stop, my aunt Brenda’s home in Nepean, just before dinner.
We walked in the door to see my mom’s entire extended family (think 30 people, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandpa’s etc...) sitting around in a circle around the Christmas tree in the beautiful foyer of their new home. Now, it’s not what you think. No singing, choraling, or whatever else you crazies were picturing. But imagine the glow (and noise) surrounding 30 people chatting, sipping wine, unwrapping surprises from secret santa’s, hugging (most of us are huggers), laughing, crying, and snapping pictures.
Wicked.
This Christmas was also beautiful because we spent a lot of time with my Grandma Brisebois. She stayed with us in Kemptville for a few sleeps (as usual) and Liette even bunked up with her one night when we were all staying at Dad's.
My Dad hosts a Boxing Day party every year and this year was no different. My Grandma was the best and despite the crowds, loud music, and belligerent people, she sat, chatted, ate, and drank her café spéciales (i.e. coffee with baileys). We had karaoke going on in the basement and Grandma went to watch. Sure enough, Rachelle was up there singing and dancing to Rhianna in only a way that Rachelle can (for those who know her you will understand). Grandma was cracking up laughing and could not get over how hilarious Rachelle was. The next few days all we heard about was how funny Rachelle was up on 'stage'!
A few highlights from Grandma Brisebois these past holidays:
- telling me that Chris looked Sexy ;) in only a way a grandma can haha oh boy.
- knitwear
- taking Grandma to DimSum on the market on the coldest day of the year
- Liette sharing a room with Grandma because she is only one who can withstand Grandma's snoring
- Grandma watching Rachelle do Karaoke
